A few years ago a sweet friend of mine invited me to go with her to London. We had a great time shopping the London markets and seeing the sights. Ever since then, I've been smitten by all things British. It seems that others have, too. The Union Jack has appeared on furniture all over Pinterest.
I bought this blue cabinet a while back at an auction. I wasn't sure I was crazy about the color, so it's been sitting in my garage waiting on inspiration.
Last week it came to me. It's already blue. Just add some red and white stripes! Now taping off the stripes is more complicated than you might think. I found this tutorial to help me with the spacing. While I didn't follow it to a t, I think I got the gist of it.
I recently won some Frog Tape from Christie at Carter's Cottage.
Perfect timing!

First I taped off for the white stripes. This photo shows the tape before I trimmed it to just the painting areas. I gave it two coats of ASCP Old White.
The best part is always peeling the tape away!
Next, I taped off for the red paint. This was a little bit easier.
I used ASCP Emperors Silk for the red.
This took three coats and then I peeled away the tape.
I distressed it a bit and applied clear wax and some glass knobs.
And Bob's your uncle!
